Monika Aqqad joined the Drop-in Centre Information and Referral service as a Caseworker in August 2022, providing information and advice on a range of issues associated with the international protection process. Prior to joining IRC, Monika used to work as an asylum and immigration lawyer with Human Rights League in Slovakia and is a former officer at the consular section of the Slovak Embassy in Dublin. She also volunteered as a legal advisor with European Lawyers in Moria refugee camp in Lesvos. 

She holds a Bachelor and a Masters of Law from Trnava University in Trnava in Slovakia, a certificate in Immigration and Asylum Law from The Honorable Society of King’s Inns and Foundations of Irish Law at Maynooth University. She is about to complete a Masters in Refugee Integration at Dublin City University.
