Housing

Our Housing team work with people who have been through the protection process in Ireland and have received their status to help them realise their housing rights. This is mainly through advice and advocacy on social housing applications, access to HAP, and homeless services.

We mainly support people:

  • Transitioning from direct provision
  • Arriving on Family Reunification
  • Accessing Homeless Services
  • From the Horn of Africa (Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya)

For any other housing-related issues, please contact [email protected].

Transitioning from direct provision

For people with status, we run a weekly ‘Housing Application Morning’ every Thursday at 10 am.

  • This is a group workshop.
  • We explain the current housing situation in Ireland
  • We help you complete the relevant housing application form
  • We help you prepare the necessary documents
  • We assist you with submitting your application to the local authority

We also have a weekly ‘HAP / Tenancy finding workshop’ every Friday

This workshop will advise on:

  • How HAP (housing assistance payment) works
  • The difference between homeless HAP and mainstream HAP
  • How to look for a private rental accommodation on daft.ie
  • How to communicate with landlords
  • Your rights and responsibilities as a tenant
  • Reference letters

Please email [email protected] to book a place in one of the workshops.
