Raise Awareness

In helping us to raise awareness of the many issues we work on as the Irish Refugee Council, you are standing in solidarity with and helping to raise the voice of all people seeking international protection in Ireland.

Here are some of the different ways in which you can raise awareness:

Educate

We do our best to provide tailored school talks and workshops to educate on issues relating to international protection, such as:

  • Understanding who is a ‘refugee’ and ‘asylum seeker’
  • Current world affairs relating to refugees
  • Understanding persecution
  • What life is like for a person seeking protection in Ireland

We ask for a small donation of €50 for our school visits. As we are quite a small team we may not always be able to meet requests but can refer you to local organisations working in your area who may be able to facilitate a school talk for you if we are unable. We also provide comprehensive resources for teachers and educators.

Hold an awareness and fundraising event

Music gig, quiz night, film screening, exhibition, coffee morning… get creative to raise funds and awareness for people seeking protection in Ireland while also bringing people together. A good idea is to hold your event on World Refugee Day on 20 June. We can support your event by providing information, content, and/or a speaker, upon request.

Join an event

Sign up for a marathon, a fun run or join a solidarity march or parade to raise awareness of the issues affecting people seeking international protection.
