Irish Refugee Council – Information and Referral Service Internship

 The Information and Referral service is a free and confidential service for those who need help or guidance about the asylum process or who have been through it. We provide information to asylum seekers and refugees on a number of issues including: asylum, subsidiary protection, direct provision, refugee family reunification and deportation.

The IRC is currently inviting applications for a part-time internship position at the Information and Referral Service.

The duties of this internship are to:

  1.  Assist in providing information and support to asylum seekers and refugees
  2. Advocate on behalf of asylum seekers and refugees with statutory and non-statutory organisations
  3. Refer asylum seekers and refugees to specialist organisations and services where necessary
  4. Complete and maintain manual and electronic case files
  5. Participate in IRC team meetings and casework meetings
  6. Contribute to the overall work plan of the Information and Referral Service

Applications are invited from those who are committed to human rights and in particular the rights of asylum seekers and refugees. The ideal candidate will have a qualification in political science, social science, law or relevant experience. Training will be given.

This is a part-time, unpaid internship for six months but a stipend will be provided to cover travel expenses.
