The Russian invasion on Ukraine has resulted in more than a million people fleeing their homes. The invasion is in addition to the conflict in the east of the country, ongoing since 2014.

The Irish Refugee Council has been helping more than 6,000 refugees from Ukraine since the invasion.

Through a helpline in Ukrainian and Russian language, we give advice everyday to people arriving in Ireland and we help them as they are finding safety and peace in Ireland.

We also offer them support with accommodation, education, family policies and employment.

Please donate today to help refugees left devastated by war as they are trying to rebuild their life in Ireland. Help us to make Ireland a safe place for families who have had to leave everything behind. All donations for this appeal will be used exclusively to support Ukrainian refugees and people living in Ukraine before the invasion.

We are bringing extra capacity to boost our response, including Ukrainian and Russian speakers and rapidly expand our capacity.

Our impact so far:

  • Daily updates to our information note
  • Receiving and responding to more than 6,000 telephone calls since the 24 February
  • Receiving and responding to more than 1000 emails from people leaving Ukraine
  • Various media appearances including Saturday with Katie Hannon on RTÉ
