Ombudsman, Emily O’Reilly, warns that the plight of asylum seekers could Ireland’s next national scandal

The Irish Refugee Council welcomes the Ombudsman’s public call for urgent reform of reception conditions for asylum seekers.

Speaking on RTE News at One yesterday, the Ombudsman reiterated Mrs Justice Catherine McGuinness’s fears that a future government will have to apologise to children raised in Direct Provision, just as Enda Kenny had to apologise to survivors of the Magdalene Laundries.
